Raw-material inspection shown by the manufacturer
The manufacturer shows an inspection report for its mugwort leaf raw material (sample received 31 March 2021, issued 9 April 2021) stating that the items tested under the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020, Volume I comply: characteristic and microscopic features as specified, a main TLC spot of the same colour as the mugwort leaf reference, and two measured values of 10.5% and 2.2%. This report covers the mugwort leaf raw material, not a finished pack.
Classic-text references quoted by the manufacturer
- Compendium of Materia Medica: mugwort leaf is bitter and pungent, warm when raw and hot when processed, purely yang in nature; it regulates qi and blood, dispels cold and damp and warms the uterus.
- Compendium of Materia Medica: Sichuan pepper is purely yang, pungent and numbing in flavour, warm and hot in nature.
- Shennong Herbal Classic: dried ginger is pungent and warm; it warms the middle, stops bleeding and promotes sweating.
How to use (from the manufacturer)
- Put one sachet in the basin and steep it in hot (boiling) water for a while; or boil it in water so the mugwort components are released more easily.
- Add cool water to a comfortable temperature — around 42 °C — for a foot soak or bath.
- Soak the feet for 15–30 minutes, until you sweat slightly.
- Each 30 g sachet is enough for one soak; a bag of 30 lasts about a month.
Important notes from the manufacturer
- For foot baths or full baths keep the water at about 37–42 °C; it should not be too hot. Soak until you sweat slightly, and wait 30 minutes after soaking before going to sleep.
- For the elderly, 2–3 foot soaks a week is suitable; not too often.
- People allergic to mugwort or prone to allergies should use with caution or avoid use.
- Do not use with unhealed skin wounds, severe lung insufficiency, severe heart disease or severe hypertension, if seriously ill or frail, or by pregnant or breastfeeding women or infants.
- Do not take a foot bath within half an hour before or after a meal.
- This is a mugwort product and cannot replace medicines or medical devices.
