- Do not use moxibustion when overtired, very hungry or full, drunk, very angry, frightened, very thirsty, sweating heavily or very weak. No more than 30 minutes on one area; not within half an hour after a meal; no bathing within 2 hours afterwards.
- Not for pregnant women or people allergic to mugwort or with an allergic constitution; not recommended for people with serious illness — consult a doctor first. Minors and people who cannot look after themselves only under adult supervision.
- Keep the heat comfortably warm; stop at once if it feels too hot or redness, itching or discomfort appears. If a blister forms, stop on that area and around it, keep it away from water and keep it clean.
- Keep away from flammable items such as bed sheets and cushions, and stop falling ash from burning the skin. When ash builds up, move away from the body before removing it. Always extinguish the moxa after use.
- Use with care on sensitive areas such as the face, eyes and genitals.
